Comments (English): There are some pirate hotels in Hanoi and, unfortunatelly, this is one of them (it was previously called Camilla Hotel or similar, since they still keep the old banner) Our experience with this hotel has been the most disgusting one in pur trip to Vietnam: - rooms were not cleaned as it was supposed to - when arriving late at night, they won't care about you nd will keep you waiting for a long time until someone attends you - they will try to cheat you when paying the bill: they will add taxes and other concepts that would not apply to you only to get your money - I could not believe my eyes when I saw that the staff (to call it someway because the are a bunch of undisciplined and miseducated kids) were writting the hotel reviews themseves !!! - They will try to rip you off by insistently selling you premium tours. Do not believe a word: they will be like 30-40 USD over the market and literature nothing to be with the reality. - If you complain, they will surely insult you in English, then in Vietnamise and finally the rest will laught at you, without refunding your money for services paid but not rendered.

Comments (English): When I booked online, the hotel pictures are deceiving. The rooms are newly renovated and clean, but you will not get a room that you have booked online even at time of booking it is stated as available.
We were given a room that was not our choice. The night we arrived in Hanoi, old quarters, we were shocked that Asia Queen Hotel was at a very dark lane which is totally not visible from the main street. Definitely it is not the previously known Intercontinental Hotel. It is a family-run hotel all the time.
Breakfast was only local "french loaf", omelette is just a fried egg and a lousy glass of coffee. You can definitely find better breakfast at a cheap US$1.50 to 2.50 and you can get a good hefty fill.
Well, this is not my main feedback.
We were cheated in broad daylight, they had charged us at US$35 per person for a Halong Bay trip which they claimed to be VIP for everything from coach, junk boat, seafood lunch, etc. We had met some people while in Halong Bay in the same junk boat as us, they had only paid US$20, at most max US$25 (different hotels booking). We all sat in the same coach, a lousy junk boat and a simple local dishes lunch, and there was definitely no VIP service at all.
So on the day of our check-out, next day after our Halong Bay trip, we went to front-desk and confronted them they over-charged us alot more as compared to other travellers. They denied and insisted VIP service and I repeatedly told it is not. And in the end, we pointed their own signboard, showing clearing in large prints that it will at US$29 per person for normal package trip, so we were already paying extra.
But they had insisted not refunding us, but also insisted I had to pay US$40 for my hotel, when obviously I had booked at a lower rate. So I negotiated with them we will not pay and after contra, we are willing to pay them US$20 for the hotel which was already more than what we should have spent.
Then the excitement or rather intimidating experience came, the reception was a young lady whom we confronted, she started to bang table and throwing our money at us, also shouted at us. Then one of her brothers came along and told us to get out and refused to let us take our lugguage with us. I told them this is not correct and not enthical what they are doing and they have to be reasonable.
We were lucky as at that time, there was some other guests in the same reception area and also outside their main entrance through the glass door I could see a police patrolling. So they became less hostile and then insisted that we had to pay them US$26 instead of 20. For the sake of our lives, which we could sense that anything could happened, we paid up and quickly left the hotel.
As we stepped out of the main entrance, the brother came after us and swear the "F" word at us.
You cannot believe this, in this country and in the back street, anything can happen and we do not even know if the whole street is their gang...
So my advise is just go to a more reputable hotel and must be on the main street, best to be recommend by friends or people whom been to Hanoi and stayed in the hotel, otherwise all must be cautioned. They are just not trustworthy.
It is not the money but the enthics of this country or at least this city that we questioned.
