Our hotel, situated in the historic centre of Venice, is a palace that dates back to 1500 and which faces one of the most beautiful squares(Campo) in Venice: Campo di San Francesco Della Vigna in the Castello. In Alla Vigna, you can combine both modern technology with classic ambience and history.
In the square, you find a church built by Jacopo Sansovino in 1534 and is one the most beautiful of its kind in Venice. Constructed for the Francescan monks, it was completed in 1554. It was then entrusted to Andrea Palladio ten years later. It isnow possible to admire the altar painting by Dolfin and the Holy Conversation by Giovanni Bellini.
Legend has it, is that the evangelist Marco found refuge there, blessed by an angel with words Pax tibi Marce Evangelista meus, which became the motto of the Serenissma. Today in the two cloisters, contemporary events and concerts are held and sometimes they are used as a pavilion to exhibit art for the Venice Biennale.
The rooms are marvellously decorated in the old Venetian style of times gone by. Alla Vigna is loved by many personalities of our Cinema Festival for its absolute tranquility, its closeness to major monuments and its marvelous atmosphere. Often writers and artists choose Alla Vigna as a place of inspiration and to resurrect magic moments.
