The room was clean, and the hotel facilities were nice. Most of the staff were friendly and approachable.

Hotel is in a great location for a very popular tourist area.
hotel is tired and a bit old. Open atrium over function rooms meant that all the noise from a wedding was heard in the room - chinese people appear to like shouting into microphones too! Reception service is not great, not very friendly and staff only speak very little English.
Requests not to clean room ignored, multiple accesses some days which were troubling. Safe was broken which wasn't good.
Wangfujing Snack street round the corner is a must see, plus 2 huge western style malls in the vicinity with a great variety of restaurants.

This is my second stay in North Garden. Last time was a couple of years ago with my wife and the one child.
This time I was here with my wife and 2 children aged 6 and 7 months. My parents were here as well.
Compared with last time the hotel rooms appeared more worn and dirty. Hotel pictures on website - doesn't at all look this way in real life.
The rooms we had reserved seemed rather small, so we had the rooms changed to actually cheaper ones, but more spacy.
On the negative side, the breakfast was too expensive for the quality and selection of food (just came from Shanghai where we paid half the price and much better food and selection). Some of the european food, like ham and cheese looked like it had been served more than once (dry edges).
Restaurant staff seemed not to know what to do - but when asked were willing.
In general hotel staff were very accommodating to our wishes regarding room change, having things properly cleaned etc. but these things should be taken care of in general.

Hotel didn't live up to my expectations of a nice hotel. The one good thing about the hotel though is its location very near to wangfujing street and subway.
