If you staying at Mauritius don't stay at Mahebourg. Stay at Grand Bay. But if you have decided to stay close to the Airport Tyvabro Guesthouse is a good option. There is nothing wrong about the place except that it looks more of a guesthouse and less of a hotel. The rooms are comfortable, with fridge, TV, Closet, attach bath, electronic safe, fresh towels and bed sheets. The bed was too soft. Breakfast was ok with breads, butter, jam, cheese, fuits, tea, cofee and pan cakes. Mr. Hassen had been very helpful in guiding us around Mauritius. He even arranged a self driven car at a economical price. The guesthouse is located walking distance of the Maheourg Bus station and the water front. There are several banks for foreign exchange. The guest house is good but Maheboug is a sleepy town with not too many restaurants. It shuts down early and the evenings are really boring.

Mr. Hassen has put alot of thought into making this guest house comfortable and attractive. It is an especially good value for the money. Rooms are clean and include nice amenities one would not normally expect to see in a guest house. The breakfast is nice, and coffee, tea and water are available all day. The location is convenient to the beach, restaurants and banks in Mahebourg. This visit was a thoroughly pleasant experience. Mr. Hassen was working on the reception area, and picking up assorted materials laying around the hallways. When the cleanliness of these common areas matches that of the room, there will be no downside to this guest house. I will certainly return on future trips.

A simple but perfect place - ideal for a holiday base, stop over, transit or other.. Tyvabro and my host Hassan made my stay in Mauritius much easier and very enjoyable. AS a young, single female traveller - the guest house offered and very safe, secure and welcoming environment. I felt safe and wlecome at all times and appreciated the very local knowledge and wisdom. Hassan offered the local experience of family dining, but offered good local advise on restaurants and places to go. The added bonus of Hassan and his son being taxi drivers and tourist guides helps immensely!

I recommend Tyvabro for a safe, clean and very traveller friendly place to stay in Mahebourg!

Please contact me if you have any queries.

This friendly guest house is in a quiet part of Maheborg. I stayed for 6 nights, using it as a base to explore the island. Although it is not a luxury hotel on the beach, at a fraction of the cost it is very well appointed with a truely personalised service from Hassen, the proprietor and his family. This includes free internet, AC, residents lounge, free mini bar and a lovely roof garden with views of the river and mountains, where kitchen facilities will also shortly be available. The bus station is 5 minutes walk away where you can travel to the rest of the island for less than a $1 a trip. Blue bay (for snorkeling) and beaches are a 30 min. walk or 10 min bus ride. Similarly, the airport is about 8km making this an ideal first or last port of call. Hassen also runs a taxi and so can pick you up from the airport, which makes sense particularly if you have luggage.
